The SECO 17002202 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 3/8-inch cutting diameter, a 0.0150-inch corner radius, and three right-hand spiral flutes with a high-helix angle of 40 degrees. The tool is finished with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) PVD coating for improved wear resistance and surface hardness. With a 1/2-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length, this single-end, centercutting tool handles both roughing and finishing operations. It is installed in standard toolholders by machinists and CNC operators working with non-ferrous workpiece materials.
The 17002202 belongs to SECO Series AN340 and is built for short-length, extended-reach applications in CNC milling operations. Its straight cylindrical shank of 3/8 inch and neck diameter of 0.3600 inches allow seating in compatible toolholders. The coarse pitch and right-hand cutting direction suit high-feed passes on aluminum, copper, brass, and similar non-ferrous materials. This tool is appropriate for job shop, production, and aerospace machining environments where corner radius geometry is required for part features.
Designed for use with standard CNC toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal (Material Application Code: N). Part of SECO Series AN340.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before installing or removing the end mill. Seat the shank fully in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify tool runout does not exceed the 0.0005-inch TIR maximum before beginning a cut.
