The SECO 17002198 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 1/4 inch cutting diameter, a 0.0100 inch corner radius, and a TiCN (titanium carbonitride) PVD coating that extends tool life and reduces built-up edge on aluminum, copper, and similar materials. With three flutes and a high helix angle of 40 degrees, the tool delivers efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes in both roughing and finishing operations. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, manufacturing facilities, and production environments will find this tool well-suited for detailed contouring and slotting work.
This end mill is intended for use in non-ferrous metal machining, including aluminum alloys and other soft metals where TiCN coatings perform well. It is a single-end, centercutting design with an extended reach of 1.75 inches and a neck diameter of 0.2400 inches, making it suitable for deeper cavity work without sacrificing rigidity. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard toolholders and collet systems. The short flute length and coarse pitch make it effective for both slotting and peripheral milling on CNC machining centers and manual mills.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders and collet systems accepting a 1/4 inch shank diameter. Part of the SECO AN340 series, rated for roughing and finishing in non-ferrous metal workpiece materials.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool release is engaged before loading or unloading the end mill from the toolholder. Verify runout against the TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches after seating to confirm proper clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidelines for set screws or collet nuts; do not exceed recommended pull-out force limits for the shank diameter.
