The SECO 17002174 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling of non-ferrous metals. Built to Series AN340 specifications, it features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.0150 inch corner radius, and three right-hand spiral flutes with a high helix angle of 40 degrees. The bright uncoated finish makes it well-suited for materials such as aluminum and copper alloys where coating adhesion or built-up edge can be a concern. The single-end, centercutting design allows for both plunge and lateral cuts, supporting a wide range of roughing and finishing operations in a single tool.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where standard toolholders accept a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Its 4 inch overall length and 2-3/8 inch reach length give operators clearance for deeper pockets and stepped features. The 1/2 inch length of cut, coarse pitch, and centercutting capability make it a practical choice for general-purpose non-ferrous stock removal and contour finishing in production and job-shop environments alike.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Optimized for non-ferrous metal workpiece materials per material application code N.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer's clamping specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Verify runout does not exceed the TIR maximum of 0.0005 inch after seating the shank in the toolholder. Select appropriate feed and speed parameters based on the specific non-ferrous workpiece material and machine capability.
