The SECO 17002173 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for precision milling in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 0.015 inch corner radius that blends floor and wall transitions while reducing stress concentrations at part edges. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a high 40-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. At 3 inches overall length with a straight cylindrical 3/8 inch shank, this single-end, centercutting tool handles both roughing and finishing operations. It carries a bright, uncoated surface and is part of SECO Series AN340.
This end mill is suited for machining aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous metals where clean chip flow and tight dimensional control are required. The short flute length and extended reach configuration make it well matched for milling slots, pockets, and profiling passes where access depth is limited. The centercutting design allows plunge entry, giving machinists flexibility in toolpath programming without a pre-drilled entry hole. It fits standard toolholders with a straight-cylindrical shank interface and is appropriate for CNC machining centers and manual mills used in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with standard straight-cylindrical bore toolholders. Primary workpiece material is non-ferrous metal. Suitable for CNC machining centers and manual mills where a 3/8 inch shank is accepted.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the toolholder manufacturer torque and runout specifications. Confirm TIR does not exceed 0.0005 inch after clamping to maintain dimensional accuracy and tool life. Ensure the machine spindle and toolholder are clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Shut down spindle power completely before changing or inspecting the tool.
