The SECO 17002081 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 3/8 inch mill diameter with a 1/2 inch length of cut, a 4-inch overall length, and an extended reach configuration with a 2.125 inch reach length and a 1.625 inch neck length. The four-flute, single-end design runs right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction with a 12-degree low helix angle. An AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and surface hardness, making this tool effective in tough cutting conditions. CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals typically run this end mill in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is engineered for milling stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials — workpiece material codes M, S, and H per ISO designation. The extended reach and reduced neck diameter of 0.36 inches allow access to deep pockets, stepped features, and profiled walls where standard-length tools cannot reach. The Weldon flat shank provides secure tool-holder engagement and minimizes pullout risk at elevated feed rates. It is suitable for both roughing and finishing passes, making it a versatile option when tool changes need to be minimized. Part of the SECO STBN440 series, catalog number STBN440-0.375-E1-B.3-Z4.
Part of the SECO STBN440 series. Compatible with standard 3/8 inch Weldon flat tool holders. Suitable for CNC milling machines running stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials in both roughing and finishing operations.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Secure the Weldon flat shank in a compatible 3/8 inch end mill holder and torque the set screw per the tool-holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout against the stated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inches after installation using a dial test indicator. Do not exceed the tool's rated cutting parameters for the workpiece material, and consult SECO's published speeds-and-feeds data for the STBN440 series before running production cuts.
