The SECO 17002063 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials, particularly stainless steel. It features a 5/16-inch diameter with a 0.0200-inch corner radius and four flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral configuration. The TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. Variable index and variable helix geometry reduce chatter and harmonic vibration, making this tool well suited for aggressive material removal and finishing passes alike. A Weldon flat shank ensures positive drive retention in tool holders.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where close-tolerance profiling, slotting, and contouring of stainless steel and similarly tough alloys are required. Its extended reach design, with a 2-1/8-inch reach length and 4-inch overall length, allows access to deeper features without sacrificing rigidity. The centercutting geometry permits plunge operations directly into the workpiece. It is appropriate for job shops, production machining environments, and tool rooms running stainless steel components.
Designed for use in standard 5/16-inch Weldon flat tool holders compatible with CNC machining centers and manual milling machines; part of the SECO STRN440 series optimized for stainless steel as the primary workpiece material.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a safe, locked-out state. Ensure the Weldon flat is properly aligned with the set screw in the tool holder to prevent axial pullout during cutting. Verify runout with a dial indicator after seating before beginning any cut cycle. Follow the machine manufacturer and tooling guidelines for appropriate feed rates, speeds, and coolant application when machining stainless steel.
