The SECO 17002062 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in demanding applications. It features a 1/4 inch diameter with a 0.0200 inch corner radius and a TiAlN coating that extends tool life in high-temperature cutting environments. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with variable helix and variable index design reduces chatter and improves surface finish. With a 3/8 inch length of cut and a 4 inch overall length, this single-end, centercutting tool handles slotting, profiling, and plunge operations. A Weldon flat shank and extended reach make it well suited to deep-pocket work on CNC machining centers.
The 17002062 is engineered primarily for stainless steel machining, where TiAlN coating provides oxidation resistance and hardness at elevated temperatures. The extended reach configuration with a 2-1/8 inch reach length and a 0.2400 inch neck diameter allows access into deep cavities while the variable helix suppresses vibration. It is appropriate for use on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers in job shop, aerospace, and medical manufacturing environments where tight tolerances and difficult materials are routine.
Designed for use in standard 1/4 inch diameter end mill holders and Weldon-style set-screw toolholders on CNC machining centers. Primary workpiece material is stainless steel; the TiAlN coating is also suitable for other ferrous alloys and hardened steels.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup personnel. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout/tagout state before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat against the set screw in the toolholder and torque to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the first cut, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on carbide tooling.
