The SECO 17000070 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 0.5-inch diameter, a 0.0300-inch corner radius, and an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating that supports cutting in steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The three-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 35-degree medium helix angle balances chip evacuation with surface finish quality. At 5.0 inches overall length with a 0.625-inch length of cut, this single-end, centercutting tool is suited for both roughing and finishing passes. It is installed in standard toolholders by CNC machinists and mill operators working with difficult-to-machine alloys.
The 17000070 belongs to SECO's SN335 series, which targets coarse-pitch roughing and finishing applications in steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys and titanium (S), and hard materials (H). The extended-reach design provides 3.125 inches of reach length, making it well suited for deeper pockets and stepped features where standard-length tools cannot access. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive retention in toolholders. This tool is appropriate for production environments running multi-axis CNC machining centers where tool runout and dimensional consistency are critical.

Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the toolholder and tighten the set screw against the flat to prevent pullout during high-load cuts. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production run; the maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0005 inches.
