The SECO 17000021 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling of aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 5/8 inch cutting diameter, a 3/4 inch length of cut, and a 6 inch overall length, placing it in the long-reach category for deeper cavity and slot applications. The three-flute, 45-degree helix spiral configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation in softer metals and reduces heat buildup at the cutting edge. The bright/uncoated finish and micrograin carbide substrate make this tool well suited for high-speed passes where coating compatibility or surface finish requirements call for an uncoated tool. Installation and use are handled by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is intended for single-end use in milling operations on aluminum, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials. The extended reach length of 4 inches and long overall length allow access to features that standard-length end mills cannot reach. The centercutting geometry supports both plunge and ramp entry. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC milling setups. This tool belongs to the SECO Series AN345 product family.
Designed as an OEM-style cutting tool for use in standard straight-shank tool holders accepting a 5/8 inch shank diameter, compatible with ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit holders sized for 0.6250 inch shanks in CNC machining centers and manual mills.
This tool is installed by machinists using a torque wrench and appropriately sized collet chuck or end mill holder — verify holder bore matches the 5/8 inch shank before mounting. Confirm TIR does not exceed the specified 0.0005 inch maximum using a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Power down and lock out the spindle before any tool change. Do not use this uncoated carbide end mill on ferrous materials, as it is rated for aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials only.
