The SECO 17000016 is a single-end square end mill designed for material removal in aluminum and non-ferrous applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for extended-reach operations. The tool features a 3/8 inch cutting diameter, a 1/2 inch length of cut, and a 6 inch overall length with a 4-1/8 inch reach length, making it well-suited for deep-pocket and slotting work where standard-length tools cannot reach. The 45-degree spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation, and the bright uncoated finish is appropriate for non-ferrous materials where coating adhesion can be a concern. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the typical end users.
This end mill is intended for use in milling aluminum, brass, copper, and other non-ferrous workpiece materials (ISO material code N). The long-reach configuration suits deep-cavity milling, side-wall finishing, and slotting passes where clearance is limited. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole, reducing setup steps in multi-operation programs. The straight shank fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders sized for 3/8 inch shank tooling.
The SECO 17000016 belongs to Series AN345 and is designed for use with standard 3/8 inch straight-shank toolholders including ER collet chucks and end mill holders; primary workpiece materials are aluminum and non-ferrous metals (ISO N materials).
Installation should be performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool-change interlock is engaged before seating or removing the tool. Verify collet runout against the TIR maximum specification before beginning a cut to avoid premature tool wear. Follow the machine manufacturer and toolholder manufacturer torque specifications when tightening the collet nut.
