The SECO 17000010 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance material removal in graphite and abrasive workpiece applications. Built on the DIACR430 series platform, it features a CVD diamond coating that delivers exceptional wear resistance against the abrasive characteristics of graphite. The cutter runs a 0.030-inch corner radius on a 1/2-inch diameter tool body with 4 right-hand spiral flutes and a 30-degree medium helix angle. Center-cutting geometry allows direct plunging without a pre-drilled entry point. This tool handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup, reducing tool changes on the floor.
This end mill is intended for use with standard straight-cylindrical toolholders in CNC machining centers and milling machines where graphite electrodes, composite materials, or other abrasive non-metallic workpieces are being machined. The diamond coating makes it particularly well suited for electrode shops and precision mold rooms where graphite is the primary workpiece material. The short-length geometry keeps the tool rigid under aggressive feed conditions typical of graphite roughing passes.

Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 1/2-inch straight shank fully in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder specification. Verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0005 inches after installation to protect the diamond coating and maintain dimensional accuracy.
