The SECO 17000003 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations in graphite and similarly abrasive materials. It features a 1/8 inch diameter, a 0.0200 inch corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree medium helix angle. The cutting edge is finished with a CVD diamond coating, which provides exceptional wear resistance when machining graphite, composites, and other abrasive workpiece materials. It is a single-end, centercutting design, meaning it can plunge as well as profile. This tool is installed and used by machinists and CNC tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for both roughing and finishing passes in graphite machining applications. Its long-length configuration, with a 1/2 inch length of cut and 1-1/2 inch overall length, gives clearance for deeper cavity work. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 1/8 inch diameter seats directly into compatible toolholders. The Series DIACR430 designation identifies the product family within the SECO diamond-coated carbide end mill lineup. Typical applications include electrode milling, mold cavity work, and precision contouring in graphite blanks.
Designed for use with standard collet-style toolholders accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is graphite; the CVD diamond coating is matched to abrasive, non-ferrous material applications within the SECO DIACR430 series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and de-energized before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder collet and torque the retention nut per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Verify runout does not exceed the rated TIR maximum of 0.0005 inch before beginning the cut.
