The SECO 17000002 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in graphite and similar abrasive materials. It features a 1/8 inch cutting diameter, a 0.0150 inch corner radius, and four right-hand spiral flutes with a 30-degree medium helix angle. The tool carries a CVD diamond coating, which extends tool life significantly when cutting abrasive non-metallic workpieces such as graphite. With a length of cut of 1/2 inch and an overall length of 1.5 inches, this is a single-end, centercutting tool from the DIACR430 series. It is installed by machinists and CNC tool-setup technicians in toolholders designed for 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shanks.
This end mill is suited for both roughing and finishing operations in graphite machining applications. Its long-length classification and normal pitch fluting make it appropriate for mold and die shops, electrode machining, and other precision material removal tasks where a corner radius profile is required. The straight-cylindrical shank seats directly into compatible toolholders without adapters. The DIACR430 series is engineered specifically for abrasive materials, making this tool a practical choice where standard coatings would wear prematurely.
Designed for use with standard toolholders accepting a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece material is graphite; part of the SECO DIACR430 series for abrasive material milling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout against the stated maximum TIR of 0.0005 inch before beginning a cut to avoid premature edge wear or chipping.
