The SECO 10115749 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding metal removal in both roughing and finishing operations. Part of the S638R series, it features a 0.5-inch diameter, six flutes with a variable pitch and 38-degree medium helix, and a 0.0313-inch corner radius. The HTA PVD coating extends tool life when cutting stainless steels and high-temperature alloys. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it compatible with standard spindle setups. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.
This end mill is built for machinists and tool-and-die professionals working in job shops, aerospace component production, and general precision machining. The short-length configuration with a 0.625-inch length of cut and 2.5-inch overall length provides rigidity in tight workholding setups. The variable pitch design reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts in stainless steel and exotic alloys classified under primary workpiece material codes M and S. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard ER collet chucks and end mill holders with a 0.5-inch bore.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct application end mill for CNC machining centers using standard 0.5-inch straight cylindrical shank tool holders, compatible with primary workpiece materials classified as stainless steel and high-temperature alloys per the S638R series application guidelines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool runout and clamping torque. Always confirm spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool. Use a calibrated collet or end mill holder rated for 0.5-inch shanks and verify TIR at setup with a dial test indicator before first cut. Inspect the corner radius and cutting edges for chipping after high-load operations in abrasive workpiece materials.
