The SECO 10097676 is a solid carbide threading insert designed for external thread-cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the 16ER insert style and manufactured to TTP2050 grade, this insert features a PVD coating process that extends tool life by reducing friction and heat buildup at the cutting edge. It covers a thread pitch range of 8.00 to 48.00 TPI and is ground to a partial profile 60-degree thread standard, making it suitable for a wide range of inch-thread applications. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this insert into compatible Snap-Tap series toolholders for high-precision threading passes.
This insert is suited for external threading operations in job shop and production machining environments, including both light-duty finishing cuts and standard production threading on steel and similar materials. The right-hand cutting orientation fits the most common lathe threading setups. Its compact form factor and 0.08 mm corner radius allow it to produce clean thread forms across fine-to-coarse pitch ranges without requiring a separate insert for each pitch.
Designed for use with Snap-Tap series threading toolholders accepting the 16ER insert style. Confirm toolholder insert pocket specifications before installation.
Threading inserts of this type are installed and serviced by machinists and toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatability.
