The SECO 10072648 is a solid carbide roughing finishing end mill designed for aggressive material removal with a refined surface finish in a single operation. Measuring 5/8 inch in diameter with a 3/4-inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length, this tool runs on a 5/8-inch straight shank and carries an AlTiN coating for heat resistance at elevated cutting speeds. The 6-flute, super close pitch geometry with a 38-degree helix angle and variable index spacing reduces chatter and improves chip evacuation. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shop and production environments.
This end mill is suited for milling operations on ferrous and hardened materials where tool life and surface quality are both priorities. The square end profile makes it appropriate for shoulder milling, slotting, and profiling cuts. The short length classification and rigid carbide substrate support stable cutting at higher feed rates. It is a single-end, right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration in the S638 series, intended for use on vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and production cutting tool compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 5/8-inch straight shank end mill holder or collet chuck.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for the 5/8-inch shank diameter, and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool installation before beginning any cutting operation.
