The SECO 10072647 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for demanding roughing and finishing operations in a single tool. Built to Series S638 specifications, it features a 1/2 inch cutting diameter with a 0.03 inch corner radius and six flutes at a super close pitch configuration. The AlTiN coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. With a 38-degree helix angle and variable index flute spacing, it reduces harmonic chatter during aggressive cuts. This tool is installed and used by machinists, tooling technicians, and CNC operators in job shop and production manufacturing environments.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys where both material removal rate and surface finish are priorities. The corner radius geometry reduces edge chipping and stress concentration at the cutting corner compared to a sharp-cornered end mill. With a 1 inch length of cut and 3 inch overall length, it fits standard CNC machining center spindles and manual milling setups using ER or milling chuck toolholders with a 1/2 inch straight shank bore.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct procurement option for 1/2 inch straight shank toolholders including ER collet chucks and milling chucks used in CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the toolholder bore is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before cutting to protect both the tool and the workpiece. Follow machine tool manufacturer guidelines for spindle speed, feed rate, and depth of cut when programming this tool into a CNC operation.
