The SECO 10070630 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG432-M3 series, designed for precision metal removal in demanding machining environments. It carries a CVD-applied Duratomic TiCN plus Al2O3 coating, which delivers moderate wear resistance combined with sufficient toughness for interrupted cuts and variable stock conditions. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0315-inch corner radius. With four usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it is suited for finishing and medium machining operations on hard materials and cast iron. Machinists and CNC operators select this grade when working hardened workpieces that require a balance of edge security and surface finish quality.
This insert is applied in boring, facing, and turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Its M3 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and medium machining passes on hard materials, material grade H10 and H15, and secondary workpiece materials including cast iron. The negative rake and negative side clearance (clearance code N, tolerance code M) make it compatible with rigid, top-clamp, pin, or lever-lock toolholders designed for CNMG-style inserts. It is appropriate for both production-volume and job-shop environments where hardened steel or chilled iron is regularly in the cut.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for CNMG432 toolholders accepting negative-rake, 80-degree diamond inserts with clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding. Primary workpiece material is hard material (H-code); secondary workpiece material is cast iron (K-code). Multi-use application covers boring, facing, and turning operations.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or changing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench or insert key specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-torque the clamping screw, as this can crack the carbide body. Inspect the toolholder pocket and shim for damage before inserting a new edge; a damaged pocket will reduce insert life and surface finish quality.
