The SECO 10023168 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. It features a 3 mm cutting diameter, a 12 mm length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The single-end configuration and straight shank make it straightforward to mount in standard toolholders. An ANF coating reduces built-up edge on non-ferrous workpieces, extending tool life in production environments. Manufactured from micrograin carbide stock, this tool holds tight tolerances with a mill diameter tolerance of 0.0508 mm and a maximum TIR of 0.01 mm. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in CNC milling applications will find this part suited to fine-detail passes and light-to-moderate material removal.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where small-diameter, precision cutting is required. Its primary workpiece material classification is aluminum and non-ferrous metals, making it a practical choice for aerospace components, electronics housings, and light-duty die work. The long-length designation provides additional reach compared to standard-length end mills of the same diameter, allowing access to deeper pockets without sacrificing rigidity. It is sold as a single-end tool, meaning it is replaced rather than reversed when worn.
Designed for use with standard straight-shank toolholders accepting a 3 mm shank diameter. Part of the SECO Series A345 long-length square end mill family for aluminum and non-ferrous milling applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable safety procedures. The straight shank should be seated to the minimum clamping depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer to maximize rigidity and minimize runout. Avoid overtightening collet nuts, which can distort the shank and increase TIR beyond the tool specification. Verify runout at the cutting tip before engaging the workpiece, particularly given the small diameter of this tool.
