The SECO 10023074 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in non-ferrous metal applications. It features a 1/2 inch diameter, a 2 inch length of cut, and a 0.0300 inch corner radius that reduces stress concentrations and extends tool life in both roughing and finishing operations. The 3-flute, right-hand spiral geometry runs at a high 45-degree helix angle, promoting efficient chip evacuation. An ANF PVD coating adds surface hardness and lubricity. With a 4 inch overall length and a straight cylindrical 1/2 inch shank, this end mill mounts directly in standard toolholders.
This end mill is suited for machining non-ferrous metals including aluminum alloys, copper, and similar materials. The long-length configuration accommodates deeper cavities and extended-reach setups where a standard-length tool cannot reach. Its centercutting design allows plunge entry, making it practical for pocketing and slot milling operations. The coarse pitch and high helix angle work together to keep chips clear at higher feed rates, which is particularly valuable in aluminum where chip packing is a common failure mode. It is used in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and similar machine tool setups.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore toolholders accepting a 1/2 inch cylindrical shank. Intended for right-hand spindle rotation in CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills processing non-ferrous metals. Part of the SECO Series A345R end mill family.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank to the full recommended gauge-line depth in the toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout does not exceed the TIR maximum of 0.0005 inch after clamping before commencing a cut.
