The SECO 10023017 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Part of the Series A345, it features a 3/8-inch diameter, a 1-1/2-inch length of cut, and a 45-degree helix angle optimized for efficient chip evacuation in soft, gummy materials like aluminum, brass, and copper. The micrograin carbide substrate delivers superior wear resistance and edge retention compared to standard carbide grades. An ANF coating reduces built-up edge and extends tool life in non-ferrous applications. This end mill is a single-end, right-hand cutting, right-hand flute tool and is centercutting, allowing plunge entry.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills in job shops, production shops, and toolrooms running aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and plastics. The long series designation provides added reach for deeper pockets and stepped features without requiring extended-reach toolholders. With a straight 3/8-inch shank, it mounts directly into standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders of the appropriate bore size. It is well-matched to high-speed finishing and semi-finishing passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are priorities.
Designed for use in aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials, classified under primary workpiece material code N. Fits standard 3/8-inch bore collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer, and verify runout does not exceed the maximum TIR of 0.0050 inches before cutting. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before tool changes. Do not use this tool on ferrous materials, as the ANF coating and geometry are optimized for non-ferrous applications.
