The SECO 10008601 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling operations where controlled edge geometry and material removal rates are critical. It measures 0.5 inches in diameter with a 1.25-inch length of cut and a 3.0-inch overall length. The 0.0600-inch corner radius reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in demanding applications. Five flutes with variable helix and variable index geometry minimize chatter and improve surface finish. The HTA coating provides heat and wear resistance suited to high-speed roughing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. A 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank provides secure tool holder engagement.
This end mill is appropriate for CNC machining centers performing roughing operations on a range of workpiece materials. The single-end, centercutting configuration allows plunge entry as well as conventional peripheral milling. Its standard-length flute profile makes it well suited to pocketing, slotting, and profile milling where a full 1.25 inches of axial engagement is required. The Series STS540 designation places it in a performance class intended for shops running aggressive material removal strategies where tool rigidity and coating durability are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production end mill for CNC machining centers accepting a 0.5-inch straight-cylindrical shank in ER, hydraulic, shrink-fit, or milling chuck tool holders.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine placed in a safe, locked-out state. Inspect the shank and tool holder bore for contamination or damage before seating the tool. Follow the tool holder manufacturer's torque specifications for set screws or collet nuts. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut to ensure the corner radius geometry performs within its stated tolerance of plus or minus 0.0010 inches.
