The SECO 10008119 is a single-end, solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. It carries a 3/4 inch diameter with a 1-5/8 inch length of cut and a 4 inch overall length, making it a short-series tool suited for rigidity-critical applications. The HTA coating provides thermal and wear resistance during aggressive cuts. With 9 flutes and a variable index design, this end mill reduces chatter and improves surface finish at elevated feed rates. It spins right-hand with a 38-degree helical flute geometry and is manufactured from micrograin solid carbide stock.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills where tight tolerances and superior finish quality are required in ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces. It is a short-series tool, meaning it is best suited for shallow-to-moderate axial depths where maximizing rigidity takes priority over extended reach. Typical applications include side milling, slotting, and profiling operations on steel components, stainless steel fixtures, cast iron housings, and high-temp alloy aerospace or industrial parts. Note that this tool is not center-cutting and is not designed for plunge entry.
The SECO 10008119 is rated for primary workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and high-temperature alloys (S). It belongs to Series S938 and uses a fractional inch system with a 3/4 inch shank diameter, compatible with standard 3/4 inch collet chucks, hydraulic holders, and milling arbors designed for that shank size.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before loading or changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into a clean, undamaged holder to the correct gauge length before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator before commencing a production cut, as excessive runout significantly shortens carbide tool life.
