The SECO 10008084 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It features a 0.500-inch cutting diameter, a 1.625-inch length of cut, and a 0.0150-inch corner radius that reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge and extends tool life in demanding applications. Six flutes with a close pitch and 38-degree medium helix angle deliver efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. The HTA physical vapor deposition (PVD) coating improves wear resistance and thermal stability. This is a single-end, centercutting tool, meaning it can plunge as well as peripheral cut. It is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in CNC machining centers and milling operations.
This end mill is suited for finish and semi-finish milling passes where corner geometry control is critical. The straight cylindrical shank at 0.500 inches fits standard collet chucks and hydraulic toolholders. The 4.000-inch overall length provides reach for moderate-depth pockets and slots without excessive overhang. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional CNC spindle rotation. The S638R series is built for production environments where consistent TIR and tight tolerances are required.
Designed for use with standard collet-style and hydraulic toolholders accepting a 0.500-inch straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for CNC vertical and horizontal milling centers running right-hand spindle rotation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before inserting or removing the tool from the toolholder. Ensure the shank is clean and fully seated to the correct gauge length before tightening the collet or clamping mechanism. Do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's recommended runout tolerance, and verify TIR with a dial indicator before committing to production cuts.
