The SECO 10008083 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance metal cutting in CNC milling applications. Built from micrograin carbide, it features 6 helical flutes with a 38-degree helix angle and a variable index configuration that reduces harmonic vibration during aggressive cuts. The HTA coating improves wear resistance and thermal stability, extending tool life in ferrous and hardened workpiece materials. With a 0.5-inch diameter, a 1.625-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length, this tool suits a wide range of roughing and finishing operations. Installation is handled by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, production facilities, and toolrooms.
This end mill fits standard 0.5-inch toolholders including collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and shrink-fit holders commonly found on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The centercutting geometry allows plunge milling, making it suitable for pocketing and slotting operations. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting rotation match the standard spindle direction on the vast majority of CNC machining centers. It is well suited for finishing passes and medium-depth slotting in steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous alloys where thermal resistance and edge retention are critical.

This tool is installed and operated by machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout state before changing tooling. Use the appropriate torque specification for your toolholder manufacturer when securing the shank in collet or hydraulic chuck systems. Inspect the cutting edges and coating for chips or wear before each use; damaged edges should not be run at full cutting parameters.
