The SECO 10004238 is a solid carbide jobber length drill bit designed for precision hole-making in demanding industrial and trade applications. Built to ANSI standards and coated with TiAlN for heat and wear resistance, this bit measures 9/32 inch (0.2811 inches) in diameter with a 140-degree split-point geometry for accurate starts and reduced thrust. The overall length is 3.5827 inches, with a flute length of 2.0866 inches and a straight-cylindrical shank diameter of 0.3150 inches. Right-hand spiral flutes with a regular helix provide efficient chip evacuation. Installation is performed by machinists and tooling technicians working in production or MRO environments.
This drill bit is suited for drilling into a wide range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The SD205A series is built around a 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio, making it appropriate for moderate-depth drilling operations where rigidity and coating durability are priorities. The bit follows a straight-cylindrical shank configuration compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders used in CNC machining centers and manual drill presses.
Designed for use with standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.3150-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Rated for drilling into steel, stainless steel, non-ferrous metal, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per primary workpiece material codes P, M, N, S, and H.
This bit is installed by machinists or tooling technicians in CNC machining centers or manual drill presses equipped with appropriate chucking systems. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Secure the shank completely within the chuck or collet to the full grip depth to prevent runout. This bit does not support coolant-through delivery; external coolant or cutting fluid application is recommended when drilling stainless steel, superalloys, or hard materials.
