The SECO 10001030 is a solid carbide milling insert identified by ANSI and ISO code XOMX160504TR-ME11, manufactured to the MP2501 grade. It carries a dual CVD-applied coating of TiCN and Al2O3 under the Duratomic coating classification, which improves wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert features a parallelogram shape with a positive rake angle of 19 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a relief angle of 15.20 degrees. With two cutting edges per insert and a right-hand orientation, this single-sided insert is engineered for milling operations where consistent edge life and predictable tool performance are required across multiple workpiece materials.
This insert is intended for use in milling applications on steel as the primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It is sized to the XOMX-16 series and fits cutter bodies in the R217.69-XO16 and R220.69-XO16 series. The ME11 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation across these material groups. Typical installations include face milling, shoulder milling, and general-purpose production milling in both job shop and production environments. The insert is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method.
Designed for use with SECO cutter series R217.69-XO16 and R220.69-XO16. Insert size code 160504 corresponds to the XOMX-16 series toolholders requiring this insert geometry.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians using the designated screw-clamp torque tool specified by the cutter body manufacturer. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Do not use inserts with chipped or deformed cutting edges, as this can cause unpredictable tool failure during operation.
