The SECO 03305475 is a British Standard Pipe Tap designed to cut internal 1/4-19 BSPP (British Standard Parallel Pipe) threads in a range of workpiece materials. Part of the MTS series, this tap features a modified bottoming chamfer for threading close to the bottom of blind holes or in situations where a standard taper chamfer would leave too many unfinished threads. The 4-flute geometry provides balanced cutting action and chip evacuation. A TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride) coating improves wear resistance and allows for higher cutting speeds compared to uncoated high-speed steel tooling.
This tap is suited for machining, maintenance, and repair applications where BSPP fittings are used, including hydraulic systems, pneumatic assemblies, and fluid-handling equipment common in industrial and commercial environments. Machinists, tool and die technicians, and maintenance professionals working on imported equipment or systems designed to ISO 228 pipe thread standards will find this tap applicable for both production and repair threading tasks.
Designed for cutting 1/4-19 BSPP internal threads per British Standard Parallel Pipe specifications. Suitable for use with standard tap holders and machines capable of accommodating a 0.4330-inch shank diameter.
This tap is intended for use by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with tapping operations and BSPP thread standards. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the pilot hole is drilled to the correct diameter for 1/4-19 BSPP threads before tapping. Apply an appropriate cutting fluid or tapping compound to extend tool life and improve thread finish. Follow standard machine safety procedures and power down equipment before any tooling changes.
