The SECO 03290935 is a solid carbide milling insert in the ZOMX-16 series, grade MP2501, designed for face and shoulder milling operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. It carries a CVD-applied Duratomic dual-layer coating — TiCN over Al2O3 — engineered for thermal resistance and wear control at the cutting edge. The insert measures 7.38 mm thick and 10.76 mm wide, with a 0.80 mm corner radius and four usable cutting edges. A negative rake geometry with a T-Land cutting edge style and M12 chip breaker geometry supports stable chip formation in interrupted and continuous cuts across its rated workpiece material range.
This insert is sized to the ZOMX 160708TR-M12 designation per ISO standards and seats by screw-clamp in compatible right-hand milling toolholders. Rated for a maximum depth of cut of 15.50 mm, it suits both roughing and semi-finishing passes in structural steel and heat-resistant alloys. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and copy milling in aerospace, energy, and general machining environments where tool life consistency across multiple edges is a priority. The double-sided design yields up to four index positions per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume production setups.

Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state. Use the correct Torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque for the clamping screw — refer to the toolholder documentation, not this insert spec. Inspect the insert pocket seating surface for chips or debris before seating each new edge. Handle carbide inserts with care; edge chipping from improper seating or impact will reduce tool life and surface finish quality.
