The SECO 03280741 is a round milling insert in the RDKW-10 series, designed for face milling and shoulder milling operations on CNC machining centers. It is manufactured from fine-grain solid carbide and carries a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN and Al2O3, which improves wear resistance and edge stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert has 8 usable cutting edges, an inscribed circle of 0.3937 inches (10.00 mm), a thickness of 0.1563 inches (5/32 inch), and a corner radius of 0.1969 inches (5.00 mm). The neutral rake geometry and T-Land cutting edge style make it suitable for a range of steel and steel-adjacent workpiece materials. It is held in the cutter body by a screw-clamp method.
This insert is intended for use in industrial and production machining environments. It is the correct grade selection for primary cutting of steel (ISO P materials), with secondary suitability for stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys and titanium (ISO M, K, and S material codes). The MD06 chip breaker geometry is suited to medium-depth roughing and semi-finishing passes. Maximum depth of cut is 0.1969 inches. The cutter series compatibility listed in the manufacturer data is R217.29-05 and R220.29-05. Installation and indexing are performed by machining technicians and CNC setup personnel.

Insert indexing and replacement should be performed by a qualified machining technician with the machine spindle stopped and all motion axes locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate torque wrench or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when securing the clamping screw; do not overtighten. Inspect the cutter pocket seating surface and screw threads for debris or damage before seating the new insert. Verify runout and depth-of-cut settings before resuming production cuts.
