The SECO 03280062 is a round milling insert carrying the ANSI and ISO designation RPKT1605M0T-8-M18 in manufacturer grade MP3000. Built from solid carbide micrograin substrate and coated with TiAlN via PVD process, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding milling operations. It features 8 cutting edges, a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, a T-Land cutting edge style, and a corner radius of 0.3150 inches (8.00 mm). The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for a broad range of milling setups. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the typical end users for this insert type.
This insert is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, and hard materials, covering ISO material application codes P, M, and H. The M18 chip breaker geometry is designed to manage chip flow effectively across these workpiece categories. With a positive rake and 11-degree relief angle, the cutting geometry reduces cutting forces and is well suited to both roughing and semi-finishing passes on ferrous and hardened workpieces. It is intended for use in machine shop environments on CNC vertical and horizontal milling centers.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.29-08 and R220.29-08. Screw-held mounting method. Insert size code 1605, series RPKT-16. Conforms to ISO standards per ANSI/ISO code RPKT1605M0T-8-M18.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a vise or holder before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque screwdriver for insert clamping screws to avoid seat damage — follow the cutter body manufacturer torque specification for the R217.29-08 or R220.29-08 series. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and edge engagement.
