The SECO 03280010 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNMG series, designed for external turning operations on CNC and conventional lathes. It carries a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and chromium, corresponding to SECO manufacturer grade TP25. The insert features a 35-degree diamond shape (V-code), a negative rake angle of 18 degrees, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With four usable cutting edges and an MF3 chip breaker geometry, it delivers consistent chip control in medium to finishing passes. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches and the corner radius is 0.0315 inches.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, back turning, and profiling operations. Its primary target workpiece material is steel (ISO P, grades P20, P25, P30, P35), with secondary capability on stainless steel (ISO M) and cast iron (ISO K). It is used in industrial machining environments by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians. The ISO designation for this insert is VNMG220408-MF3-203, and the industry standard number is VNMG432-MF3-203. Minimum order quantity is 5 inserts; each package contains 1 insert.
Designed for use in VNMG-series toolholders that accept a 35-degree diamond insert with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 0.1925-inch insert thickness, and 0.2031-inch hole diameter. Compatible holding methods include clamp, pin, and lever-lock styles. Suitable for turning, facing, back turning, and profiling applications on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secure before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw per the toolholder manufacturer's specification; do not overtighten the clamping screw. Confirm the insert is fully seated in the pocket with no rocking before resuming cuts.
