The SECO 03279994 is a solid carbide round turning insert engineered for metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to ANSI and ISO standards, it carries a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and chrome (Cr) for wear resistance and thermal protection during extended cutting cycles. The insert features a 3/4 inch inscribed circle, a 3/8 inch corner radius (0.3750 inches), and an insert thickness of 0.2551 inches. With four cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it delivers consistent performance across facing, profiling, and turning applications. The manufacturer grade is TP25 with a positive rake angle of 14 degrees and a honed cutting edge style.
This insert is suited for machining steel as its primary workpiece material, with secondary suitability for stainless steel and cast iron. It fits turning and milling operations requiring a full-radius round insert profile. The 46 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during moderate to heavy passes. It is compatible with toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock insert holding methods. Typical applications include general turning, facing, and profiling on CNC equipment in production machine shops and job shops.
Designed for use in toolholders accepting RCMM series round turning inserts with clamp, pin, or lever lock retention. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P); secondary materials include stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). Material grades P20, P30, and P35 apply. Industry standard number RCMM64-46.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the pocket before torquing the clamping mechanism to the toolholder specification. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before mounting to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure.
