The SECO 03276726 is a VNMG331-M3 series turning insert designed for general-purpose metal cutting in CNC and manual turning operations. It is manufactured from solid carbide and features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, placing it in the TP25 grade classification. The insert carries a 35-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. It delivers four usable cutting edges per insert, making it an efficient choice for production environments focused on steel and stainless steel applications. The M3 chip breaker geometry and negative rake angle help control chip flow during interrupted and continuous cuts.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, back turning, and profiling operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. It corresponds to ISO material grades P20, P30, and P35, making it appropriate for medium to rough cutting conditions in both light production and job shop environments. The VNMG series is commonly used in toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. This insert follows ANSI and ISO standards and carries the ISO designation VNMG160404-M3.
Designed for use in VNMG-series toolholders accepting clamp, pin, or lever lock insert retention. Meets ANSI and ISO VNMG160404-M3 dimensional standards. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P); secondary workpiece materials are stainless steel (ISO code M) and cast iron (ISO code K).
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-torque the clamping mechanism, as this can fracture the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or wear before installing a fresh cutting edge.
