It carries the industry standard designation WNMP431-MF1 and the manufacturer grade TM2501. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which provides thermal resistance and extended edge life in demanding cutting environments. With an 80-degree trigon shape, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert is suited for general finishing and medium turning applications across stainless steel and steel workpiece materials.
This insert is primarily used on CNC lathes and turning centers in industrial machining environments. It is engineered for use on stainless steel (ISO material group M) as the primary workpiece material, with steel (ISO material group P) as the secondary application. The MF1 chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge make it well-matched for finishing and semi-finishing passes where controlled chip evacuation and edge stability are priorities. Multi-use capability covers boring, facing, and turning operations. Installers and machinists should verify toolholder compatibility with the WNMP insert style before setup.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for toolholders accepting WNMP-style inserts with a 1/2-inch inscribed circle. Suitable for use across ISO material grade classifications M25, M30, and M35. Compatible holding methods include clamp, pin, and lever lock systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be powered down and all motion fully stopped before changing inserts. Verify that the toolholder seat and clamping mechanism are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert.
