Product Description

The SECO 03276605 is a TPMR321-F1 solid carbide turning insert in grade TP25, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a CVD multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, delivering balanced wear resistance and toughness suited to steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. The triangular insert shape provides three cutting edges with a positive rake angle of 17 degrees and a relief angle of 11 degrees. With a corner radius of 0.0158 inches and an F1 chip breaker geometry, it is optimized for finishing operations requiring sharp, controlled cuts and smooth surface finishes.

This insert is suited for finishing passes in back turning, boring, facing, and general turning applications on steel (P-class), stainless steel (M-class), and cast iron (K-class) workpieces. Material grade designations P20, P30, and P35 indicate suitability for moderate to higher-toughness steel cutting conditions. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard TPMR-style insert pockets on a wide range of tool holders used in both production and maintenance machining environments. It is installed by machinists and tooling specialists in job shop, production, and maintenance machining settings.

Key Features

  • CVD multilayer coating: TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life on steel and stainless steel
  • F1 chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing operations with sharp cutting edge style
  • Three cutting edges per insert — ANSI code TPMR321, ISO code TPMR160304
  • Positive rake and positive side clearance for reduced cutting forces
  • Neutral hand orientation fits standard TPMR clamp-style tool holders
  • Maximum depth of cut up to 0.611 inches in applicable finishing conditions

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit insert for TPMR-series clamp-style turning tool holders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with tool holders accepting TPMR321 (ANSI) or TPMR160304 (ISO) insert seats.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamp per the tool holder manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper clamping force and edge registration.
