Manufactured from solid carbide and coated with a CVD-applied TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr Duratomic multilayer finish, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding machining environments. The F1 chip breaker geometry produces a sharp cutting edge with a positive 17-degree rake angle, making it well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes. The insert measures 39/64 inches in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. It features a neutral hand orientation, three usable cutting edges, and a screw-type holding method for secure tool post retention.
This insert is primarily rated for stainless steel (ISO material code M) and secondarily for general steel (ISO material code P), covering material grades M25, M30, and M35. Verify toolholder pocket dimensions against the 0.1772-inch hole diameter and 5/32-inch insert thickness before installation.
Installation is performed by machining professionals using standard TCMT toolholders and the appropriate Torx or hex drive screw for the insert pocket. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new edge. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.6110 inches as specified for this insert geometry.
