The SECO 03276209 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DCMT series, designed for precision metal-cutting operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It carries the TM1501 manufacturer grade and features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which builds thermal resistance and prolongs edge life during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert has a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake angle of 17 degrees and a sharp cutting edge style. Two usable cutting edges are provided per insert. A 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius define the cutting geometry. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
The 03276209 insert is rated primarily for stainless steel (ISO material code M) and secondarily for steel (ISO material code P), covering material grades M15, M20, and M25. Its F1 chip breaker geometry handles back turning, boring, facing, and general turning applications. The screw-clamping insert holding method provides rigid, repeatable seating in compatible DCMT-style toolholders. This insert suits medium to semi-finishing cuts and is a strong fit for shops processing stainless components where edge stability and coating durability are critical.
Designed for use in DCMT-series screw-on toolholders. ISO designation DCMT11T304-F1 and industry standard number DCMT32.51-F1 apply. Confirm holder bore and clamping geometry before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid insert fracture or seat damage — consult the toolholder manufacturer specification for screw torque. Inspect the pocket seat and screw thread for chips or wear before installing a fresh edge.
