The SECO 03276201 is a DCMT-style solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe operations. Carrying the DCMT21.51-MF2 industry standard designation and manufacturer grade TM3501, this insert features a multilayer CVD-applied Duratomic coating consisting of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life in demanding cuts. The 55-degree diamond insert shape provides a sharp, versatile geometry suited to contour turning and profiling. With an MF2 chip breaker and a positive rake angle of 18 degrees, the insert is engineered to handle light-to-medium cuts on difficult-to-machine materials with minimal heat buildup and consistent chip formation.
This insert is primarily rated for stainless steel (ISO material code M, grades M30 and M40) and secondarily for steel (ISO material code P). It is suited for back turning, boring, facing, and general OD turning applications in both production and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it usable in standard right-hand toolholders across a wide range of DCMT-compatible boring bars and turning tool bodies. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, medical, and general manufacturing will encounter this insert in high-tolerance finishing and semi-finishing passes where controlled chip evacuation is critical.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-stock turning insert for DCMT-series toolholders accepting a 55-degree diamond insert with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and screw-lock holding. Compatible with toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO DCMT070204 specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping screw to seat the insert fully against the pocket without overtightening, which can crack the carbide body. Inspect the insert pocket for wear, debris, or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
