The SECO 03276194 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPMT series, designed for precision metal-cutting operations including turning, facing, and boring. It carries a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which improves wear resistance and heat management at the cutting zone. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, a 0.0315 inch corner radius, and a positive rake geometry with a sharp cutting edge. Manufacturer grade TP25 targets steel as the primary workpiece material, making this insert a go-to choice for machinists running moderate to high cutting speeds on carbon and alloy steels.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes used in job shop, production machining, and maintenance environments. The F1 chip breaker geometry handles turning, facing, and boring applications with a positive rake angle of 17 degrees, helping control chip flow and reduce cutting forces. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P), with secondary applications in stainless steel (M) and cast iron (K). It is sold individually but requires a minimum order quantity of 10 units per order.
Designed for use in CPMT-compatible screw-clamp toolholders. Fits toolholder systems accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 5/32 inch thick diamond-80 insert with a clearance code P and tolerance code M. Suitable for CPMT32.52 series toolholders per ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the insert clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate or stripping the screw seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the insert.
