The SECO 03276000 is a CNMG432-MF3 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated with a CVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 Duratomic multilayer coating. Designed for negative-rake external turning, boring, and facing operations, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0315-inch corner radius. The MF3 chip breaker geometry is optimized for light-to-medium finishing cuts on stainless steel and steel workpieces. With four cutting edges per insert, it delivers consistent performance across multiple tool changes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators typically specify this insert for precision turning centers and lathes.
This insert is primarily rated for stainless steel (ISO material code M, grades M30 and M40) with a secondary application in steel (ISO code P). The MF3 geometry supports finishing and semi-finishing passes where chip control and surface finish quality are critical. Suitable for multi-use applications including external turning, facing, and boring operations on conventional and CNC lathes in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for standard CNMG432 toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever-lock insert holding methods. Conforms to ANSI and ISO CNMG series specifications (ISO equivalent: CNMG120408-MF3), ensuring dimensional interchangeability with any toolholder rated for CNMG432 inserts.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down the machine and engage the spindle lock before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping to maintain proper seating and edge repeatability. Index or replace the insert when visible wear, chipping, or surface-finish degradation is observed — never attempt to regrind CVD-coated carbide inserts.
