The SECO 03275997 is a CNMG432-MF2 series indexable turning insert rated for grade TP25 with a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It features an 80-degree diamond insert shape, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0315-inch corner radius. The insert has a negative rake angle of 18 degrees, a chamfered and honed cutting edge, and four usable cutting edges per insert. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is engineered for medium-finish operations in steel and stainless steel applications. It is sized at 0.5079 inches in length and 0.1875 inches in thickness, and weighs approximately 0.02 pounds. Licensed machinists and CNC toolroom technicians are the primary installers of this insert type.
This insert is suited for CNC turning, boring, and facing operations on steel (ISO material group P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K). It is particularly effective in medium-finishing passes where controlled chip formation and consistent surface finish are required. The TP25 grade and CVD multilayer coating provide wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting speeds typical in production turning environments. The MF2 chip breaker geometry limits depth of cut to a maximum of 0.4756 inches, making it best suited for light to medium material removal rather than heavy roughing passes.
Designed for use with CNMG-series toolholders that accept a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, 0.2028-inch hole diameter, and clamp, pin, or lever lock holding methods. ISO code CNMG120408-MF2 applies for toolholder cross-reference. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC toolroom technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware to secure the insert without overtightening, which can crack the carbide. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper insert orientation and cutting edge engagement.
