The SECO 03275992 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG432-M5 series, designed for metal-cutting lathe operations in professional machining environments. Carrying grade TM1501 with a Duratomic CVD-applied multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, this insert delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of cutting conditions. The diamond-shaped body features an 80-degree included angle, a negative rake geometry, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. With four usable cutting edges and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it offers extended tool life and consistent surface finish. Installation is handled by machinists and CNC operators using clamp, pin, or lever-lock toolholding systems.
This insert is suited for boring, facing, and turning operations, with stainless steel as its primary rated workpiece material and steel as the secondary. The M5 chip breaker geometry is engineered for medium-duty cuts in these material groups, covering material grades M15, M20, and M25. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with the ISO designation CNMG120408-M5, making it interchangeable within compatible CNMG-series tooling systems. Typical applications include general-purpose CNC turning centers and manual lathes in production and job-shop settings.
Designed for use in CNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever-lock insert retention. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standard CNMG120408-M5, fitting any toolholder specifying that ISO insert designation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp screws for the toolholder in use; do not substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper support and edge registration.
