The SECO 03275990 is a CNMG432-M3 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD-applied Duratomic coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr. It carries the TM2501 grade designation and is engineered for medium to semi-finishing turning operations on stainless steel and steel. The insert features a diamond 80-degree shape with a neutral hand orientation, 4 usable cutting edges, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0315 inch corner radius. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style combined with the M3 chipbreaker geometry supports stable chip control across a range of depths of cut up to 0.4756 inches. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in compatible turning toolholders for production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Its primary application is stainless steel (ISO workpiece material code M, material grades M25, M30, M35), with steel (ISO code P) as the secondary workpiece material. The negative rake geometry and N clearance angle are consistent with rigid setups where tool pressure and edge security are priorities. Installation and indexing of this insert should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Use a calibrated torque wrench when re-seating the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not rely on feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before each index to prevent insert rocking and premature edge failure.
