The SECO 03275986 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMP431-MF1 series, grade TM1501, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features an 80-degree diamond shape with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 1/64 inch (0.0157 inch) corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. The insert carries a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, engineered to extend tool life and maintain edge integrity under the thermal and mechanical demands of stainless steel and steel turning operations. Four cutting edges are available per insert, improving cost-per-edge efficiency in production environments.
This insert is suited for general turning, facing, and boring operations on stainless steel (ISO material code M) and steel (ISO material code P). It fits into toolholders accepting CNMP-style inserts with clamp, pin, or lever-lock holding methods. The MF1 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium finishing passes, making this insert appropriate for shops running close-tolerance work on stainless alloys, carbon steels, and similar materials. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with the equivalent ISO designation CNMG120404-MF1.
