The SECO 03275974 is a CCMT-series solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal in CNC and manual turning applications. Manufactured to the CCMT53.52-M3 industry standard (ISO: CCMT160508-M3), this insert features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 with a Cr topcoat for wear resistance and thermal stability. The diamond-shaped insert carries an 80-degree included angle, a 0.0315-inch corner radius, and a positive rake geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge. With two usable cutting edges and screw-type holding, it suits high-throughput production environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production facilities will find this insert a direct fit for standard CCMT toolholders.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces. It carries material grade designations of P20, P25, P30, and P35, making it well suited for general-purpose and semi-finish turning of ferrous materials. The M3 chip breaker geometry controls chip flow across a range of depths and feed rates, reducing the risk of chip entanglement on the workpiece or tool. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.6024 inches, providing flexibility across roughing and finishing passes within the insert design range.
Designed for use in standard CCMT-style screw-on toolholders accepting a 5/8-inch inscribed circle insert. Compatible with turning, facing, and boring operations on steel (P), stainless steel (M), and cast iron (K) workpiece materials per ISO material classification.
Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder specification; do not over-tighten, as this can fracture the carbide insert body. Inspect the insert pocket and screw for wear or debris before seating. Index or replace the insert at the first sign of chipping, cratering, or dimensional drift in the finished workpiece.
