The SECO 03275964 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT series, designed for precision finishing operations on steel and stainless steel workpieces. Carrying the ANSI designation CCMT32.52-MF2 and ISO code CCMT09T308, this insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 18 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle. The TM1501 grade applies a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, delivering moderate wear resistance with high toughness. The MF2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install this insert into compatible screw-lock toolholders.
This insert is suited for finishing passes on steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) in turning, boring, and facing operations on CNC and manual lathes. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 1/32-inch corner radius make it appropriate for moderate-depth finishing cuts with a maximum depth of cut of 0.3484 inches. Material grade classifications M15, M20, and M25 indicate a broad sweet spot across medium finishing to medium-roughing stainless steel applications. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both left- and right-hand toolholders where CCMT geometry is specified.
Designed for use in CCMT-style screw-lock turning toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle insert. Verify holder pocket geometry matches CCMT insert style, 7-degree relief angle, and M-tolerance class before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — do not over-tighten carbide inserts, as cracking can result. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper support and repeatability.
