The SECO 03275963 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT-M5 series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr, which extends tool life on difficult-to-machine materials. The insert features an 80-degree diamond shape, a 0.375-inch inscribed circle, a 0.03125-inch corner radius, and a 7-degree relief angle. The M5 chip breaker geometry with a chamfered and honed cutting edge provides controlled chip formation across a range of feed rates and depths of cut. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary users.
This insert is rated for primary use in stainless steel (ISO material code M) and secondary use in carbon and alloy steels (ISO material code P). It is suited for three operations: boring, facing, and turning. The neutral hand orientation allows fitment in standard CCMT-style toolholders used on gang tooling, turret lathes, and live-tool turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. It is manufactured to ANSI and ISO dimensional standards and carries the ISO designation CCMT09T308-M5, covering material grades M25, M30, and M35.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CCMT-style toolholders accepting the CCMT32.52 insert size. Compatible with standard screw-clamp CCMT toolholder pockets per ANSI and ISO specifications. Industry standard number CCMT32.52-M5 applies.
Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine spindle stopped and all axes at a safe reference position. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to proper engagement without over-torquing the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for chips or debris before seating a new insert. Verify tool offset data in the machine controller after each insert index or change.
