The SECO 03275929 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT series, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual lathe applications. It carries the industry standard designation CCMT32.51-F1 and manufacturer grade TM2501. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating of TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr for extended tool life and heat resistance during interrupted and continuous cuts. With an 80-degree diamond shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert is engineered for sharp, positive-rake cutting in demanding turning operations. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians using screw-type insert holders.
This insert is suited for facing, boring, and turning operations on stainless steel and steel workpieces, corresponding to ISO material groups M and P. Material grades M25, M30, and M35 define its optimal application range, making it appropriate for both light finishing and moderate roughing passes on austenitic and carbon steel stock. The F1 chip breaker geometry promotes chip control in these applications, reducing the risk of built-up edge and recutting. It is commonly used in job shops, production turning cells, and aerospace or industrial fabrication environments where tight tolerances and consistent surface finish are required.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CCMT32.51-F1 style screw-lock toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO CCMT09T304-F1 standards. Compatible with toolholders specifying CCMT-series inserts with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 7-degree relief angle, and screw-type clamping. Verify holder bore diameter against the 0.1772-inch insert hole diameter before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the insert clamping screw and ensure the seating pocket is clean and free of chips before placing the insert. Follow ANSI B94 tooling standards and machine manufacturer guidelines for insert torque and holder setup procedures.
