The SECO 03275915 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CCMT series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the industry standard designation CCMT21.51-M3 and ISO code CCMT060204-M3. The insert features a CVD-applied Duratomic multilayer coating — TiCN, Al2O3, and Cr — engineered for wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. With an 80-degree diamond shape, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64-inch corner radius, this insert is built for general-purpose turning, facing, and boring operations where surface finish and tool life are the primary concerns.
This insert is primarily suited for machining stainless steel (ISO material group M) and is also applicable to general steel (ISO group P). It fits CCMT-style toolholders using screw-type clamping and is appropriate for production turning environments where consistent chip control is required. The M3 chip breaker geometry provides positive rake cutting action with a chamfered and honed edge, making it effective across a range of depths of cut up to 0.2378 inches. Machinists working in job shops and production facilities will find it well-suited for both roughing passes and semi-finish turning on stainless components.

Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamping screw, and verify there is no rocking or gap at the seating surfaces. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping torque procedure to avoid insert fracture or pocket damage.
